Maren Preiß is a visual storyteller and writer based in Hamburg, Germany. She progressed beyond journalism to embrace the fields of photography and filmmaking. What she loves most about storytelling is its ability to forge connections among people, and between people and ideas.

She recently has started her first solution-oriented project: in 2021 she founded terrafoto, a group of visual storytellers and writers focused on Community Supported Agriculture and other ways of local involvement with growing food in these times of climate extremes.

With a Master’s degree in History and Italian Literature, and as a graduate of the Masterschool Dokumentarfilm she introduces elements of history, anthropology and sociology into her documentary work. Choosing topics which generally take her away from the noise of today’s media, she is devoted to slow journalism and long-term projects.
